Treating farm dairy effluent with poly‐ferric sulphate dramatically reduces phosphorus and E. coli leaching through subsurface drains—A physical drainage model study

چکیده
Land application of farm dairy effluent (FDE) may lead to water contamination, by contaminants such as phosphorus (P) and E. coli. A new FDE treatment technology using poly-ferric sulphate (PFS) has been developed recycle wastewater in for washing the farmyard. physical drainage model study was conducted investigate effect treating with PFS on coli leaching through subsurface drains. Dissolved reactive (DRP) total (TP) losses from untreated averaged 3.48 kg P ha−1 11.44 ha−1, respectively. The PFS-treated (TE) resulted significantly lower DRP TP at 0.24 4.52 fresh TE 0.27 6.31 stored 3 weeks before (TE-S). Cumulative lost TE-S treatments 93.1% 92.2% than that treatments. Compared treatment, there a 98.27% 99.99% reduction Plant biomass uptake were not affected These results indicate land effluent, or stored, drained pasture soils can produce significant environmental benefits reducing concentration amount water, without adversely impacting plant growth.

Phosphorus leaching in soils amended with piggery effluent or lime residues from effluent treatment.
Phosphorus (P) in wastes from piggeries may contribute to the eutrophication of waterways if not disposed of appropriately. Phosphorus leaching, from three soils with different P sorption characteristics (two with low P retention and one with moderate P retention) when treated with piggery effluent (with or without struvite), was investigated using batch and leaching experiments. The leaching o...
متن کاملWhole-farm Phosphorus Management on Dairy Farms
Most dairy farms in Wisconsin continue to follow a fairly generalized formula of how to produce milk. Cows and replacement heifers are fed primarily homegrown feed from crop rotations comprising alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.), corn (Zea mays L.), oats (Avena spp.) and soybean (Glycine max L. Merr.). Protein and mineral supplements are purchased to compliment dairy diets. However, the dairy indust...

متن کاملRanking Dairy Sires by a Linear Programming Dairy Farm Model
Dairy sires were ranked for overall merit by an average daughter's contribution to farm net profit. Biological characteristics of sires and economic factors of a dairy farm were linked by linear programming. Availability and constraints of resources were in the model. Average daughter's returns over variable costs attributable to sire proofs for several traits was the measure of sire's net meri...
